The Managing Director of the South West Development (SWDC), Dr. Charles Akinola has announced the Commissions plans to focus on regional integration projects that will connect the six states of the South-West region.

Speaking at a two-day stakeholders’ dialogue in Akure, Dr. Akinola explained that the SWDC is prioritizing regional connectivity by developing rail lines, highways, and superhighways to ease transportation and support economic activities. He added that the commission is working on establishing a South-West Investment Fund, driven by the private sector, to finance key infrastructural projects that would boost industrial and commercial development.
The commission has also begun consultations with development partners and private investors to design frameworks for projects such as intra-regional transportation corridors, agricultural value chains, and technology-driven industrial clusters. These initiatives align with President Bola Tinubu’s economic agenda and the collective commitment of South-West governors to strengthen regional collaboration and create jobs.
