Polygamy Harms Women and Children, Says Erigga

Drawing from his personal experience of growing up in a polygamous home, rapper Erigga has spoken out against polygamy, describing it as a harmful practice that negatively affects women and children.

Erigga emphasized that such family structures often lead to conflict and emotional pain for those involved, particularly the women and children.

In an interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Erigga revealed that his aversion to polygamy stems from his desire not to repeat his father’s lifestyle. He explained that in polygamous families, there are always aggrieved parties, and the suffering rarely affects the man. According to him, the emotional toll and tension are mostly borne by the women and their children.

Erigga therefore advised men to steer clear of polygamy and instead embrace monogamy. He argued that monogamy is less complicated, more peaceful, and ultimately more fulfilling for everyone involved, as it promotes harmony and emotional stability within the family.
