Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has dismissed Nasir El-Rufai’s invitation for opposition leaders to join the Social Democratic Party (SDP), calling it an insult. El-Rufai, who recently left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the SDP, urged figures like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and others to join him.

In response, Lamido emphasized that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was instrumental in shaping El-Rufai’s political career and reaffirmed his commitment to the party.
He questioned El-Rufai’s leadership style and motives for leaving the APC, urging him to prioritize patriotism over personal grievances. Lamido also stated that the PDP has been working to regain its strength since its 2015 election loss and sees no reason to leave the party.
