The Nigerian Senate has proposed a N10 billion special fund for investor education in the capital market as part of the 2025 budget. Senator Osita Izunaso, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Capital Market, emphasized the need to raise awareness and attract more investors to achieve the country’s $1 trillion economic goal.

He noted that participation in the market remains low, and more companies should be listed.
During the budget defense session with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Izunaso stated that increased financial literacy would enhance market growth. Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, affirmed the government’s commitment to economic stability, highlighting the stock market’s strong start to the year as a sign of investor confidence.
He also pointed out that pension funds could be leveraged to boost participation in the market.
