Ikeja Electric Plc, on Wednesday, said the disruption of power supply was as a result of ongoing maintenance work on Nigeria Gas Company (NGC) gas pipeline supplying gas to Egbin Power Generation Company.
In a statement issued on its X social media handle, the electricity distribution company said the ongoing maintenance had led to temporary shutdown of the plant, resulting in load shedding nationwide.
According to reports there have been power outages nationwide in the past weeks due to the collapse of the national grid. The crisis became exacerbated due to large scale theft of power infrastructure.
In its statement, the power distribution company apologized and assured that normalcy would be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this situation and assure you that normalcy will be restored upon the completion of the maintenance work,” Ikeja Electric said in the statement.
