Police, Military Raid Criminal Camp in Anambra After Six-Hour Gun Battle

The Anambra State Police Command, in collaboration with the Army, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilante groups, raided a criminal hideout in Ogbunka, Orumba South Local Government Area. The operation, based on gathered intelligence, resulted in a six-hour gunfight during which some criminals escaped with bullet wounds.

According to police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the security team overpowered the criminals, dismantled makeshift explosives used as shields, and recovered various relief materials including pots, foodstuffs, and dismembered parts of suspected stolen vehicles. Security forces have since taken control of the area to prevent further criminal activity and to apprehend fleeing suspects. The command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
