Police Arrest Three NSCDC Officers Over Senior Colleague’s Death, Discover Over ₦2 Billion in Suspect’s Bank Account

Three officers of the N8geria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Mining Marshals unit have been arrested by the police in connection with the death of Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Agada Levi Agada, an NSCDC officer and pastor who was fatally shot during an operation in Nasarawa State.

The Police Force Intelligence Department (FID) launched an investigation after Agada’s family petitioned authorities, citing conflicting accounts surrounding his death. While one version claimed bandits attacked the team, another suggested only Agada died while other officers were detained. Medical information referenced in the family’s petition allegedly indicated that the fatal gunshot resulted from the firearm of another NSCDC officer.

Police sources also disclosed that investigators traced over ₦2 billion through a bank account belonging to an NSCDC Mining Marshal, with efforts ongoing to determine the nature of the transactions and any links to other suspects.

According to the police, several Mining Marshals personnel were invited for questioning but failed to honour the invitations. The three arrested officers were reportedly apprehended at a correctional facility while attempting to visit a remanded suspect linked to the case.

Agada’s family has called for a thorough and independent investigation, alleging possible criminal conspiracy, unlawful killing and attempts to conceal the circumstances of his death. The family also raised concerns over the continued withholding of the deceased’s mobile phones and inconsistencies in information provided by officials following the incident.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing and have urged the NSCDC leadership to make other officers of interest available for questioning.
