The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Friday Onu, who was captured in a viral video assaulting a woman, Mrs. Yetunde Amole, while attempting to steal her car battery near the Oriental Hotel on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the incident occurred on Monday, April 7. Amole had tried to stop Onu from stealing her battery when he physically attacked her. He was arrested shortly after by officers from the Maroko Division.
However, Onu reportedly fell ill while in custody and was transferred to the Falomo Police Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment under police watch. The command assured the public that he will be arraigned once declared fit.
Commending Amole for her courage, the police reiterated their commitment to justice and public safety, encouraging continued cooperation with law enforcement.
