Osun APC Accuses Adeleke of Plotting Judicial Coup to Reinstate PDP LG Chairmen

The Osun State APC has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of planning a “judicial coup” to reinstate PDP local government chairmen through a court order.

At a press briefing, ex-Information Commissioner Sunday Akere alleged the state government intends to use a mandamus order from the Osun High Court on April 17 to forcefully install PDP chairmen into council secretariats, currently occupied by court-reinstated APC officials. He warned this could spark unrest and vowed resistance.

Akere claimed Adeleke plans to use Amotekun Corps and thugs to back the move, calling it illegal and a threat to peace. He also referenced a past court ruling nullifying the PDP officials’ election.

In response, Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, dismissed the claims as blackmail, saying APC is simply afraid of legal consequences for allegedly occupying the councils illegally. He noted three pending lawsuits against the APC, including one from the PDP’s ALGON and another from local government workers.

Rasheed stressed that Governor Adeleke has not filed any court action and continues to advocate for the rule of law.
