The princes, princesses, and traditional council of Ore in Ondo State have issued a strong warning to the Abodi of Ikaleland, Oba George Babatunde Faduyile, urging him not to interfere in the selection of a new monarch for the town. High Chief Samuel Adesanlu, representing the Dero Royal House, condemned what he described as a secretive attempt by the Abodi to impose a monarch on Ore, following the death of Oba Johnson Olatomide in 2022. He emphasized that the Olore of Ore stool is independent and not subject to any external traditional authority.

In a formal statement addressed to state officials including Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, the Ore traditional council insisted that there is no legal or traditional basis for the Ikale kingdom’s involvement in the succession process. They pointed out that the chieftaincy declaration governing the Olore of Ore stool does not support outside influence and has not been altered or overruled by any court decision.
According to the declaration, only the recognized ruling houses—Orunsero, Akintimehin, and Deroare eligible to present candidates for the stool, none of which are affiliated with the Ikale people.
The council warned that any move to impose an outsider as monarch would face firm resistance from the people of Ore. They called on the Ondo State government to respect the chieftaincy laws and avoid actions that could ignite conflict or undermine local customs. Stressing the importance of self-determination in traditional matters, they urged authorities to prevent what they labeled an “interloping” attempt to rewrite the town’s historical and judicially backed succession structure.
