One Dead, Eze’s Palace Burnt in Rivers Youth Leadership Dispute

Rumuji Community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State into have been thrown into chaos, leaving one person dead and the palace of the community Eze Christian burnt to ashes.

The unrest erupted during a meeting organized by a local company to discuss the activation of a mini-power plant, after the LGA Chairman, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, allegedly announced a new youth president in place of the serving leader, Anele Ogbu.

Eyewitnesses reported that the announcement triggered a heated confrontation between rival factions, leading to the stabbing of Mr. Paul Oduveh, a supporter of Ogbu. Oduveh was rushed to the hospital but died on the way, sparking retaliation from angry youths who set the monarch’s palace ablaze and engaged in further clashes. The community has since been gripped by tension and fear of more violence.
