Ogun State Government Condemns Portable’s Violent Attack on Officials

The Ogun State Government has strongly criticized popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, following a violent incident involving officials from the State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA). The confrontation occurred at Portable’s bar in Iyana Ilogbo, Sango Ota, where government officials were reportedly attacked while on duty.

Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, described Portable as a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal” notorious for assaulting officials without provocation.

He condemned the act as “unacceptable and barbaric,” stressing that such behavior undermines public order and governance.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining lawful conduct, vowing that anyone flouting state laws, regardless of social status, would face legal consequences.

Nine of Portable’s associates were arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Abeokuta on charges including felony, assault, and breach of the peace. They pleaded not guilty.

The case has sparked public concerns over growing disorder attributed to the musician’s disruptive behavior.
