NSCDC Uncovers Illegal Crude Oil Reservoir in Ondo Forest

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State Command has discovered an illegal crude oil reservoir concealed in a forest in Obe-Akingboye, Ilaje Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out on Sunday at 2:12 PM, was a joint effort with the Nigerian Army and TANTITA Security Service. However, no arrests were made as the perpetrators had already fled before security operatives arrived.

NSCDC spokesperson DSC Daniel Aidamenbor confirmed the discovery in a statement released in Akure on Tuesday. He emphasized that the Ondo State Commandant, Mr. Oluyemi Ibiloye, has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in illegal petroleum activities, urging them to desist or face severe legal consequences.

Ibiloye also reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting critical national assets, particularly in the petroleum and solid minerals sectors, to curb economic sabotage.
