For the second time in recent months, Nigerian military personnel have been accused of assaulting electricity workers over power disputes. On March 14, 2025, soldiers from the Nigerian Army’s 15th Field Engineers Regiment in Badagry allegedly stormed the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (Eko Disco) substation, abducting and beating two staff members before releasing them.

The soldiers reportedly acted over poor power supply to their barracks, despite prior communication about an ongoing system upgrade. This follows a similar attack by Nigerian Air Force personnel on Ikeja Electric workers. Industry stakeholders are calling for urgent government intervention to prevent further military interference in electricity distribution.
