The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) executed a precision airstrike on March 13, 2025, targeting notorious bandit hideouts in Unguwar Goga Hillforest, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State. The operation, carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, resulted in the neutralization of over 20 bandits, with additional casualties reported in the surrounding hills.

The airstrike destroyed the fortified camps of two notorious bandit kingpins, Gero (Alhaji) and Alhaji Riga, who were key enablers of banditry in the region.
They had provided shelter for terrorist elements responsible for ambushes along the Funtua-Gusau Road. Their elimination is considered a significant breakthrough in the military’s efforts to restore peace in the North-West. The full assessment of the strike’s impact is still ongoing.
