UK-bound seventy four-year-old man hav3 been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport with 11kg cocaine concealed in balloons inside containers of ground pepper in Agency ongoing efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking networks operating through Nigeria’s airports and other entry points.
According to the agency, NDLEA officers intercepted the suspect during routine screening, where a detailed inspection of his luggage revealed the hidden narcotics carefully packed inside the pepper containers.
NDLEA dtated that, the suspect attempted to smuggle the illicit drugs through the airport by disguising the Cocaine within food items, a tactic often used by traffickers to evade detection during security checks.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the drugs and possible accomplices, while the suspect is expected to face prosecution under Nigeria’s anti-drug laws.
