The trial of Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, a former Chairman of the Park Management System in Oyo State, was stalled on Wednesday due to the absence of Justice Bayo Taiwo at the Oyo State High Court. The case, which involves a murder charge, was adjourned until June 11 for the adoption of final addresses in a trial-within-trial session. Both the prosecuting counsel, Mr. S. O. Adeoye, and the defence counsel, Mr. Olalekan Ojo (SAN), were present in court.
Auxiliary is standing trial on a 17-count charge that includes armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms. The weapons allegedly found in his possession include AK-47 rifles and two submachine guns with magazines. These offences are punishable under Section 1(2)(a) and (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, CAP RII, Vol. 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
