Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State has raised alarm over what he described as a “sponsored genocide,” claiming that armed bandits have taken control of at least 64 communities across Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom LGAs.

Speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, Muftwang linked the escalating violence to coordinated terrorist activities, stating that over 50 lives have been lost and thousands displaced in recent weeks. “This is not random; it’s systematic and organized,” he said.
He urged security agencies to collaborate and uncover the masterminds behind the violence, noting that many seized communities have been renamed by the bandits. “People are living on lands they forcefully took from others,” he added.
The governor’s claims have intensified public calls for urgent federal action to reclaim the territories and protect affected residents. As the Federal Government remains silent, pressure is mounting on security agencies to end the killings and bring the perpetrators to justice.
