Legendary Singer Connie Francis Dies at 87

American singer Connie Francis, known for classic hits like “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” and “Stupid Cupid,” has passed away at the age of 87. Her publicist, Rob Roberts, announced the news on Thursday via Facebook, stating that she died the previous night but did not disclose the cause of death. Francis had recently been hospitalized due to severe pain and had undergone hip treatment earlier in July.

Francis, born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero in Newark, New Jersey, rose to fame in 1958 with her breakout hit “Who’s Sorry Now?” She became one of the best-selling artists of the late 1950s and 1960s, known for her powerful vocals and versatility. Although her mainstream popularity declined after the 1960s, she continued to record and perform for decades, maintaining a loyal fan base across generations.

In recent months, she experienced a resurgence in popularity when her 1962 song “Pretty Little Baby” went viral on TikTok. Despite her health challenges, Francis remained active and had planned to perform on Independence Day before being hospitalized. Remembered for her musical legacy and heartfelt voice, The New York Times described her as having an easy, fluid vocal style and a natural command of varied musical material.
