Lagos Assembly Condemns Security Operatives’ Invasion, Demands Investigation

The Lagos State House of Assembly has strongly condemned the invasion of its complex by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police, calling it a “rape of democracy” and a national embarrassment.

During a plenary session attended by 36 members, the lawmakers demanded an explanation from the Lagos DSS Director and called on National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to investigate the incident and provide a public briefing.

Expressing outrage, they described the act as an abuse of legislative procedure and a threat to democracy. Hon. Abiodun Tobun emphasized their support for the Speaker, rejecting any external influence over the House’s leadership.

The lawmakers also suggested that powerful individuals might be behind the incident and called for a thorough probe to hold those responsible accountable. They vowed to uphold the legislature’s independence and prevent future violations of democratic governance.
