The recent kidnapping of two brothers on November 8 2025 along the Adughe-Imoga Road has threw the Imoga, a a border community in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State into disarray when the abductors demanded a ransom of N22 million.
According to reports, the captives later escaped when the kidnappers mysteriously fell asleep in the forest. Vigilantes from Adughe, a neighbouring Kogi community that shares the Okpameri language with Imoga, rescued the victims.
Local youths also mobilised to search the forest, but the kidnappers had fled by the time they arrived. The Oba stressed that the persistent crimes carried out by kidnappers and armed herders have created fear among residents.
He appealed to the government to establish a police post in Imoga, noting that security patrols would help restore safety and confidence. He further highlighted that the community’s expansive land mass has made it a magnet for herders and other external groups, increasing the need for enhanced security presence.
Meanwhile, the traditional ruler of Imoga, raised alarm over increasing kidnapping incidents in the area. He explained that Imoga’s location between Ondo and Kogi states has made it vulnerable to criminal activities.reflecting growing public frustration and resort to self-help measures.
