Jandor Claims Peter Obi’s Surge Cost Him Lagos Governorship Victory

Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, has claimed that the unexpected support for Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 Lagos State governorship election undermined his chances of defeating incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Speaking on Channels Television, Jandor explained that the surge of political support for Obi, who topped the presidential vote in Lagos, shifted the dynamics of the election and negatively impacted his campaign.

Despite finishing third in the governorship race, Jandor expressed confidence that he could have won if not for the “Obi effect” and acknowledged that it was not yet his time to govern. He also revealed his openness to joining a different political party to pursue his ambition in the 2027 elections.
