The Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has revealed that the refusal of actress Iyabo Ojo to appear in court or provide a formal statement is hindering progress in ongoing cybercrime cases involving several celebrities, including Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Tonto Dikeh, and VeryDarkMan. This was disclosed in response to growing public concerns over online accusations and counter-accusations among the figures involved.

The first case stems from a petition filed by Naira Marley and Sam Larry, accusing Iyabo Ojo of cyberbullying and cyberstalking. They alleged that she made unverified statements online and in interviews, linking them to the death of the late singer Mohbad. The police noted that Iyabo Ojo was invited for questioning, granted bail, and the matter was later charged to court under the Cybercrimes Act.
In a separate case, Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh filed a cyberstalking complaint against social media personality VeryDarkMan (Martins Vincent Otse). The NPF-NCCC completed its investigation and charged the case to court under Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/149/2024. However, the police say Ms. Ojo’s consistent failure to honor court invitations as a witness or submit a formal statement is delaying the legal process.
Reaffirming its commitment to justice, the NPF-NCCC emphasized that it is conducting impartial investigations and upholding due process. It urged all parties, including Iyabo Ojo, to cooperate with the legal proceedings to ensure accountability and protect the integrity of Nigeria’s digital space.
