Iran Accuses Israel of Targeting Journalists During Recent Conflict

Iran has reported that at least 12 journalists and media workers were killed during the recent 12-day war with Israel, according to state media. The IRNA news agency, citing the media arm of the Basij paramilitary forces, said two more media workers were identified among the dead, raising the toll. The Basij media arm claimed that Israel intentionally struck media infrastructure to silence opposition voices, particularly those aligned with the “Resistance Front” — a coalition of Iran and its regional allies.

The conflict, which began on June 13 with a surprise Israeli attack, resulted in heavy casualties and destruction. Israel launched an extensive bombing campaign targeting Iranian military installations, nuclear facilities, and residential neighborhoods. One of the reported targets was the Iranian state broadcasting headquarters in northern Tehran.

Iranian officials stated that the total death toll from the Israeli campaign had reached 1,060, including senior military figures, nuclear scientists, and hundreds of civilians. The Israeli strikes were described as unprecedented in scope and intensity, aiming to weaken Iran’s military and strategic infrastructure.

In response, Iran launched retaliatory drone and missile strikes that reportedly killed at least 28 people in Israel. The violence has now subsided, but both nations continue to release updated casualty figures and exchange accusations of deliberate targeting and war crimes.
