Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has firmly denied rumors of his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adeleke made this known while flagging off the dualization of the 3.5km Ila township road in Ila-Orangun, reaffirming his commitment to serving the people of Osun State. He emphasized that his administration has completed over 175 kilometers of road reconstruction, rehabilitation, and renovation, with several dualization and flyover projects ongoing across the state.

Adeleke’s denial comes amidst claims by Bola Oyebamiji, CEO of National Inland Waterways Authority and Osun APC governorship aspirant, that voters in the state will reject Adeleke’s re-election bid due to alleged mismanagement of resources. Oyebamiji, however, calmed APC supporters over Adeleke’s rumored defection, assuring them that the party’s leaders are in control and working towards reclaiming the state in 2026. Senator Babajide Omoworare also weighed in, stating that Adeleke didn’t win the 2022 governorship election outright but rather APC lost due to internal discord.
Despite the political tensions, Adeleke remains focused on his governance, prioritizing infrastructure development and the welfare of Osun State residents. His administration aims to deliver key projects, including the dualization of the Osogbo-Ikirun-Inisha-Okuku-Ijabe and Ila Odo roads, spanning 39 kilometers. Adeleke’s commitment to serving the people of Osun State remains unwavering, as he expresses gratitude for their support and looks forward to continuing his service ¹.
