Funke Akindele’s film ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ becomes the first Nigeria movie to hits N1 billion in ticket sales.

Funke Akindele’s latest movie project “A Tribe Called Judah,” has grossed N1 billion in ticket sales 20 days after its release in cinemas.

Released in December 2023, “A Tribe Called Judah” is a heartfelt and comedic drama that tells the story of a single mother and her five sons who, faced with financial hardship, hatch a plan to rob a mall. However, their plans take an unexpected turn when they encounter another group of robbers already on the scene.

This action-packed comedy, featuring a stellar cast including Funke Akindele, Timini Egbuson, Jide Kene Achufusi, Uzee Usman, Tobi Makinde, and Olumide Oworu, revolves around a family embarking on a heist to rob a luxury furniture store, only to encounter armed robbers already inside the mall.

On the list of the highest grossing Nollywood movies of all time, Funke Akindele has become a colossus occupying the first three slots. A Tribe Called Judah is number one with over a billion naira in tickets sales. In second place are yet two of Akindele’s movies, Battle on Buka Street and Omo Ghetto: The Saga, each with over 600 million naira in box office harvests.
