A group, under the umbrella of the “Concerned Plateau Fulani Forum” has alleged that while Christians in Plateau State claimed and report genocide against their communities, over 3,000 Fulani people and 10,000 cattle have been killed or stolen in areas like Bokkos, Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and Bassa native in Plateau State.
The group’s National Coordinator, Saleh Haruna, claimed that the level of violence faced by Fulani communities has been significantly underreported compared to Christian accounts, despite accusations by figures such as Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo who frequently asserts that Fulani militias target Christians—the number of Fulani people and cows killed in the past decade surpasses the number of Christian casualties, according to Daily Post.
He further argued that the CPFF is prepared to counter the narrative of Christian genocide by presenting their own evidence, including mass graves of Fulani victims, despite cultural norms that discourage counting or exhuming their dead. Haruna also referenced remarks by Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, who alleged that some Christian groups stage empty casket burials to exaggerate their casualties.
The group criticized what they see as biased media coverage that highlights Christian casualties while downplaying attacks on Fulani communities. Haruna insisted that Fulani people have endured mass killings for years and questioned why such losses are not equally acknowledged, asking whether these incidents do not also constitute genocide.
