Four Soldiers Killed in Boko Haram Attack on Military Base in Yobe State

At least four soldiers were killed when suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a surprise attack on the 27 Task Force Brigade in Buni Yadi, Gujba LGA of Yobe State. The assailants struck around 2 a.m. on Saturday from the western direction, destroying and looting military equipment during a fierce battle that lasted several hours. The attack coincided with the recent appointment of a new Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, and followed shortly after the North East Governors Forum’s meeting in Damaturu, where a new strategy to tackle insurgency was discussed.

The Nigerian Army confirmed the attack on its official Facebook page but has yet to release detailed casualty figures. Buni Yadi, the hometown of Governor Mai Mala Buni, lies just 65 km from the state capital. The attack prompted the closure of the Biu-Damaturu-Maiduguri road, disrupting travel and forcing many residents to flee to safer areas. Witnesses reported panic and displacement as the military imposed temporary movement restrictions to secure the area.
