The police in Katsina, on Wednesday, confirmed the kidnap of five female students of the Federal University, Dutsinma.
They added that a man suspected to be an informant to terrorists had been taken into custody.
Residents revealed that the terrorists, at about 2am on Wednesday, invaded the private residence where the victims were staying, shooting aimlessly
According to residents, the kidnapped victims are all females in their final year and attempts to get the comments of the management of the institution on the incident proved abortive.
Only a few students were also seen on the main campus as many of them had just finished their first semester examinations.
Findings recalls that a 200-level student of Computer Science and Information Technology, Abubakar Barda, was recently killed during a brawl with some of his colleagues over a female colleague.
Six students are currently being detained in connection with the incident.
