First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N1 billion to the Niger State government to support victims of natural disasters and banditry attacks. The donation, made during the launch of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Women Empowerment Programme in Minna, is aimed at providing housing support and essential supplies to help displaced families recover and rebuild their lives.

As part of the empowerment programme, 500 women from Niger State will each receive N50,000 from a N25 million grant to support their small businesses. The initiative, done in collaboration with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, targets 18,500 women across Nigeria, with 500 beneficiaries selected from each state and the FCT. Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that the funds are grants, not loans, aimed at helping women recapitalize their businesses.
Governor Mohammed Bago thanked the First Lady for her continued support, recalling her previous donation of N100 million to victims of a mine explosion. He praised her compassion and linked her actions to the progressive leadership style of President Bola Tinubu, especially in a time when many people are suffering due to flooding in the state.
