FG Gives 14-Month Deadline for Completion of Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria Road Project

The Federal Government has given Infiouest Construction Company a 14-month deadline to complete Section II of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria road, part of the N777bn Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano highway project. The section, valued at N525bn, was re-awarded to Infiouest after the contract with Julius Berger Plc was revoked due to cost variation issues.

Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, announced the new deadline during the flag-off ceremony at Jere, Kagarko LGA of Kaduna State. He stated that the road would be constructed using concrete reinforcement pavement to ensure durability and speedy delivery.

Umahi praised Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for his support in facilitating the project’s progress. He emphasized that the full 700km highway, once completed, would significantly reduce accidents and traffic congestion.

He noted that while Julius Berger has already completed a substantial portion of Section III between Zaria and Kano, Infiouest is now responsible for finishing the 140km stretch, amounting to 280km when factoring both lanes. Additionally, 11km has been added to connect the road to Aminu Kano International Airport.

President Tinubu has also directed that solar-powered streetlights be installed along the entire stretch. Sections I and III, totaling 118km, have been awarded at N252bn and are currently ongoing.
