Femi Falana Sues Meta for $5M Over Alleged Privacy Invasion

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has filed a $5 million lawsuit against Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, over an alleged invasion of his privacy.

Falana, through his lawyer Olumide Babalola, accused Meta of publishing a misleading video on Facebook titled AfriCare Health Center, falsely implying that he suffers from prostatitis.

He argues that this publication violates his right to privacy under Section 37 of the Nigerian Constitution and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Falana is seeking, A court declaration that the publication constitutes a privacy violation. An order compelling Meta to delete the video. $5 million in damages for harm to his reputation and emotional distress.

Falana claims the false publication has tarnished his image and caused mental anguish, emphasizing that his reputation as a fearless advocate for human rights has been unfairly damaged.
