The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Bayero, has announced the cancellation of the annual Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebration due to security concerns in the state.

Speaking at his Nasarawa Mini Palace on Wednesday night, the Emir emphasized that maintaining peace was more important than holding the traditional festivity. The decision followed advice from Islamic clerics, elders, and stakeholders.
Originally, the Durbar was set to mark both the Sallah celebration and Emir Bayero’s fifth anniversary on the throne. He urged Kano residents to celebrate peacefully with family and friends while praying for Allah’s blessings and mercy during Ramadan.
