The Association of Resident Doctors at Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja (FTHL) has urged President Bola Tinubu and Health Minister Prof. Ali Pate to address severe issues threatening the hospital’s collapse.
Former ARD Chairman, Dr. Olushola Baoku, revealed that poor working conditions had reduced the doctor count from 315 to 43, describing the hospital as a “slave camp.” Issues include short-term contracts, no pensions or hazard allowances, and non-functional medical facilities.
The doctors demanded the reinstatement of suspended ARD President Dr. Jimoh Umar, despite a directive for his return being ignored by Chief Medical Director Dr. Olatunde Alabi. Protests will continue until demands are met.
