Customs Intercept Explosives, Expired Noodles And Illicit Drugs At Seme Border

Threr thousand three hundred  cartridges of explosive materials, expired noodles, illicit drugs and other prohibited items has been intercepted in a major anti-smuggling operation at the Nigeria-Benin border.

One thousand, three hundred and eight The command also seized sacks of expired and decomposing noodles, each weighing 50kg was also interceptedby the Command. According to Customs, intelligence indicated that the noodles were allegedly intended to be repackaged and relabelled before being introduced into Nigerian markets.

Other items intercepted include 373 parcels of cannabis, pharmaceutical products, 310,000 sticks of cigarettes and 1,268 bags of foreign parboiled rice. Customs said the seizures were aimed at preventing dangerous products from reaching communities and disrupting criminal supply chains.

The 3,300 explosive cartridges were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit for safe custody and further investigation. The seized contraband, including vehicles and other items, had a combined Duty Paid Value of about ₦365.16 million, according to the command.
