Former CBN Governor GodwinEmefiele has failed in his bid to recover massive Abuja estate made up of 753 duplexes and apartments, already seized by the government.

On Monday, the FCT High Court in Apo dismissed Emefiele’s move to reverse the forfeiture of the property located at Plot 109, Lokogoma District. The EFCC had earlier secured court orders to confiscate the estate, which had long been linked to Emefiele.
Emefiele claimed he was not properly informed about the forfeiture process, blaming a newspaper notice he described as obscure and saying he was busy fighting other criminal charges at the time. But Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie ruled that the EFCC followed due process and that Emefiele had enough time to respond but failed to act.
The judge added that only people with a clear and recognized interest in a forfeited property can intervene, and in this case, Emefiele’s excuse did not hold water. The court ruled fully in favour of the EFCC and ordered that the estate remains in government hands.
