A Bill for second reading seeking to amend the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) to create additional Local Government Areas in Plateau State was on Thursday 13th November 2025 prevented on the floor of the House by Honourable Ahmed Idris Wase, Member Representing Wase Federal Constituency of Plateau stae.

Hon. Idris Wase noted that the proposal responds to long-standing calls for improved governance, equitable representation, and easier access to public services for communities across the state, according to a statement released by his Media Aide, Faruk Tahir.
He emphasized that the creation of new LGAs is essential for addressing population growth, strengthening administrative efficiency, and enhancing grassroots development. He expressed confidence that the amendment will receive thorough consideration as lawmakers continue deliberations, reaffirming his commitment to initiatives that promote fairness, inclusivity, and sustainable development in Plateau State.
