Armed bandits ha e been reportedly broke into a palace in Kwara State, forcibly entering by breaking down the door while demanding to see the Oba and his wife. During the attack, the Oba’s wife was shot in the arm. The attackers kidnapped the Oba and one of his sons, who came out with the queen to avoid harm. Around ten people had been at the palace to spend the holiday but mostly hid during the incident.

The attackers appeared to specifically target the monarch and his family, with the leader speaking fluent English. Despite efforts by local vigilantes, who were few in number, they were unable to stop the heavily armed bandits. The victim’s family was rushed to the hospital following the attack.
The incident was promptly reported to multiple police stations and local security agencies in the area, though authorities are still gathering detailed information. The Kwara State Police confirmed awareness of the event but have yet to provide more updates.
This kidnapping is part of a wider rise in insecurity across rural parts of Kwara, including recent abductions and attacks on community leaders and worshippers. Banditry and violence continue to increase, causing fear among residents and prompting calls for stronger government intervention
