At least thirty people have been killed and numerous others in a tragic attack by suspected bandits, and looting goods worth millions of naira, and setting the market ablaze. The assault targeted Kasuwan Daji a village market in market in the Kabe District of Borgu Local Government Area, an area near Kainji Lake National Park. The attackers not only opened fire on villagers but also set the market ablaze, destroying food supplies and other goods.

Accordibg to reports, the bandits are believed to be operating from the dense forests of Kainji Lake National Park, using the terrain to launch surprise attacks and escape. Villagers trying to flee were reportedly kidnapped along the routes leading to the forest, heightening concerns about their safety. The devastation has caused significant fear and insecurity within the local community.
Authorities, including a joint security team, have visited the site of the attack and are actively working to rescue those abducted. The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the casualties and reassured that efforts are ongoing to restore safety and apprehend the perpetrators behind this violent incident.
