The 2023 vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed has insisted that he remains firmly loyal to the LP, dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) opposition coalition as deceptive.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Datti Baba-Ahmed declared himself “a Labour Party man” and expressed his desire for Peter Obi to return to the party and contest the 2027 presidential election.
He criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing its leadership of undermining constitutional provisions during the 2023 presidential election. Baba-Ahmed argued that the commission failed to respect the rule requiring 25 percent votes in two-thirds of the states and the FCT, a move he believes contributed to Nigeria’s current political crisis.
Highlighting the consequences of electoral malpractice, he said electoral fraud remains Nigeria’s most pressing issue, fueling insecurity and deepening corruption across the country. According to him, until credible elections are conducted, Nigeria will continue to grapple with governance challenges rooted in compromised democracy.
