Nigerian music star Ayra Starr has become the first African artist to receive a Latin Diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The honor came through her hit international collaboration “Santa” with Rvssian and Rauw Alejandro, which garnered over 35 million streams.
With this achievement, Ayra Starr joins fellow Nigerian artist Rema, whose song “Bubalu” holds a Latin Platinum certification, marking them as the only African acts to be recognized by the RIAA in the Latin category. This milestone highlights the growing global impact of African music.
“Santa” has also received multiple Platinum certifications in Spain and Mexico. The song dominated the Spanish music chart and secured the No. 2 spot in Colombia, Ecuador, and several parts of Central America, underscoring its international success.
