Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, has died at the age of 91.
The monarch passed away on Sunday, just hours after the announcement of the death of former president Muhammadu Buhari, his longtime friend.
Oba Adetona ascended the throne in 1960, and was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers and a highly respected voice among Yoruba monarchs and across the nation.
