All Nigerian Pilgrims Safe After Makkah Hotel Fire, NAHCON Assures

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) confirmed that all 484 Nigerian pilgrims involved in a fire at the Imaratus Sanan Hotel in Makkah are safe, with no casualties reported. The fire, which broke out around noon on a Saturday, affected pilgrims from six Nigerian private tour operator companies but was quickly contained thanks to the swift response of Saudi emergency services and hotel management.

Following the incident, NAHCON Chairman Professor Abdullahi Usman, alongside senior officials, visited the site to assess the situation and oversee the well-being of the affected pilgrims. The chairman ordered the immediate relocation of all pilgrims to new accommodations in Mina and assured them of full support from the commission throughout the resettlement process.

NAHCON also expressed gratitude to the Saudi emergency responders and hotel staff for their effective management of the blaze. Inspections of the new lodging have been completed, and the relocation of pilgrims is actively underway, ensuring their comfort and safety during the remainder of their pilgrimage.
