The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the release of the three female students who were kidnapped from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University of Agriculture, Makurdi, on February 25, 2025.

The students were abducted while returning from a night study session on campus. Their release was announced on Thursday in a news flash by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on X.
Following the abduction, the university management declared a one-week mid-semester break to address security concerns. This was communicated in an internal memo titled “Security Situation on Campus,” issued by the Registrar, Dr. John David, a day after the incident.
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, had earlier called for intensified efforts to secure their freedom.
As of now, details surrounding their release remain undisclosed.
