Mbappe to wear mask after nose fracture- French FA

France’s star forward, Kylian Mbappe will wear a face mask for the remainder of the Euro 2024 tournament, as confirmed by French FA.

The former PSG ace suffered a broken nose during a clash with Austria’s Kevin Danso in their Euro opener, but he will not require surgery immediately.

Following the injury, Mbappé’s return to the pitch may not be immediate.

“Mbappé will receive treatment in the next few days, but he will not undergo surgery in the immediate future.

“A mask will be made for him so that the number 10 of the French national team can prepare for his return to the competition after a period dedicated to treatment,” the French FA statement read partly.

According to reports, Mbappé, who underwent tests at a Düsseldorf hospital, does not need an operation.

Although he theoretically could play against the Netherlands on Friday, this is considered highly unlikely.

Mbappé, who humorously asked for “mask ideas” on social media, will wear protective gear upon his return.

France’s captain is expected to come back for the final group stage game against Poland, though no final decision has been made yet.

The news is a relief for France, as initial concerns after their 1-0 win over Austria suggested Mbappé might miss significant time.
