The Chairman Sunchi Integrated Farms Limited, Sunday Ezeobiora, has said that the naira redesign policy, fuel subsidy removal and devaluation of the currency are the major government policies that had significantly affected businesses nationwide this year 2023.

Ezeobiora, who is also the National President of the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) stated this while speaking at the 10th year anniversary of Sunchi Integrated Farms Limited, in Enugu, stressing that the policies affected their business just like every other businesses in the country.
He noted that the 10 years has been remarkable in the Nigerian business environment and that it has been a productive year since the farm started.
“In all the years we have been in operation, 2023 has been hugely remarkable as it is the year three major government policies had significant impact on our operations.
The naira redesign policy, fuel subsidy removal and devaluation of the currency affected our business just like every business in Nigeria.
Ezeobiora, recalled that Sunchi started construction in 2009 and commenced operations in 2013 as a breeder farm, hatchery and small scale feed mill producing feed for the farms internal consumption.
“We started with a 20-ton per day capacity for the feed mill and 200,000 birds per month in 2013 and within 2014 and 2015; we increased our hatchery capacity to 480,000 birds per month.
“In 2022, we installed 10 tons per hour automated feed mill for mash and five tons per hour pelleted feed”.
He stated that the farm’s oil refinery was established in 2016 with a capacity to refine four tons per day.
“With our increased feed production, we are also increasing our oil refinery to match the volume of soya beans we crush for a feed. The oil refinery was added to further add value to the by-product of soybean which we use for feed production.
Ezeobiora added that as an extension of the value chain, the farm has further gone into frozen chicken.
Olisa Onu, the National Vice chairman PAN (South East), commended Sunchi Farms’ doggedness and for weathering the storm all these years.
He said that it is difficult to undertake poultry business in Nigeria, especially in the south east today due to several factors including insecurity.
Long service awards were presented to dedicated workers and pioneers of the company to appreciate their commitment and hard work over the years to the company.
