Through specialised training, intelligence-driven operations, and strategic partnerships, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said it remains committed to sustaining collaboration with (NAPTIP, EU, UNODC, FIAP, and other stakeholders towards building a coordinated and effective response against human trafficking and irregular migration.
The commutmend was made during closing ceremony of a 3-day capacity-building workshop on “Strengthening the Operational Response of the Anti-Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration Unit (AHTIM) of the NSCDC,” organised with the support of the European Union (EU), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the Foundation for the Internationalisation of Public Administrations (FIAP).
Representing the Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, the Head of the Anti-Human Trafficking, Irregular Migration and Other Related Matters Unit, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Janet Elor, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to supporting national and global efforts against trafficking in persons through specialised training, intelligence-driven operations, and strategic partnerships.
The workshop reflects the visionary leadership of the Commandant General, whose administration has continued to prioritise capacity building, professional development, and strategic partnerships as key drivers for enhancing the effectiveness of the Corps.
In his remarks, the Deputy Team Leader of FIAP, Javier J. Leon, described the NSCDC as a reliable and dependable ally in the collective efforts to combat human trafficking and irregular migration, commending the Corps for its commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.
While the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) remains the lead agency coordinating Nigeria’s anti-trafficking response, the NSCDC continues to play a critical supporting role through enforcement collaboration, intelligence sharing, prevention initiatives, and protection of vulnerable persons.
The partners recognised the Corps’ dedication to institutional development, operational readiness, and collaboration in tackling one of the most complex transnational crimes affecting vulnerable populations.
