The General Department of Immigration under the Ministry of Interior, Royal Government of Cambodia has issued aln immigration notice informing all foreign nationals, including citizens from several African countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, and Uganda, of an impending deadline related to an existing imm8gration waiver arrangement. to leave before May 31, 2026, or risk arrest and heavy fines.

The directive was contained in an official notice released stated that, the waiver granted to affected foreign nationals will officially expire on 31 May 2026 and all individuals who have cleared any applicable fines are required to leave the country on or before that date.
Cambodian authorities warned that anyone found remaining in the country illegally from June 1, 2026, would face strict legal action. Any foreign national who enters, remains or is found in Cambodia from 1st of June 2026 will be arrested at the airport or at any location,” the notice stated.
The government added that offenders could face a two-year jail term and an $8,000 fine before being allowed to leave the country. Authorities also announced that nationwide arrests of undocumented foreigners would begin immediately after the deadline expires.
“The Cambodia Police will start arresting any foreigner at any hideout in Cambodia from 1st of June 2026 for overstay and will hand over to the immigration authorities for legal action,” the statement added. The Cambodian government urged all affected persons to comply strictly with the directive, stressing that violations of the country’s immigration laws would not be tolerated.
