In a move expected to strengthen the club’s defensive line, Qatar Stars League outfit Al Ahli SC have confirmed the signing of 32-year-old defender and former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong ,c a ontract that will keep him at the Qatari club until June 2028, underlining the club’s long-term plans around his experience and leadership.

The club announced the development via its official channels, bringing an end to speculation over the future of the experienced centre-back.
The move comes shortly after Troost-Ekong announced his retirement from international football,drawing the curtain on a distinguished Super Eagles career. Upon his arrival, Troost-Ekong was handed his preferred number five jersey, a number he has worn for most of his professional career.
His signing is viewed as a major boost for Al Ahli as they seek to build momentum and finish the season strongly in the Qatar Stars League.
During his time at Al Kholood, Troost-Ekong made 49 appearances, scoring two goals, while providing stability and organisation at the back. His performances in Saudi Arabia further reinforced his reputation as a dependable and commanding defender with vast experience across European, Middle Eastern and international football.
Troost-Ekong joined Al Ahli from Saudi Arabian side Al Kholood, where he was a key figure at the heart of the defence.
