Senate Insists No Ransom Was Paid To Rescues Recent Kidnapped Victims

Senator representing Ekiti south and chairman of the senate Committee on media and publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu,  has cautioned the public against assuming that security operations are ineffective simply because such details are not displayed.

He clarified that the Federal Government did not pay any ransom to secure the release of abducted individuals in Kebbi and Niger States. Speaking on Channels Television, he stressed that the National Assembly has no indication of any ransom payment and that engagements with kidnappers can occur in different forms either through force or persuasion.

Adaramodu explained that the absence of public evidence, such as images of arrested abductors or scenes of confrontation, does not mean the military did not take necessary action. According to him, kidnappers often flee when they sense superior firepower, abandoning their victims without direct confrontation.

He further emphasized that the military is not obligated to reveal the tactics, resources, or strategies used in rescue operations. For the Senate and the Federal Government, the primary goal remains the safe return of victims—not the public disclosure of operational details. He concluded by stating that what matters is that security forces went into the forest and successfully brought back the abducted individuals.
